Don't lose good chance to buy very cheap wow gold for Pre-Ch
With game gold wow buy sales lagging and gamers extending their playtime with their favorite titles by playing online, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachtersees mega publisher Activision finding a way to get money out of gamers spending tons of hours with games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
According to Pachter, "Activision will find a way to monetize the 1.75 billion hours of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 online play on the Xbox 360 in the first five months following the game release.
"In the future, we think that Activision will find a way to charge for some portion of online game play, and if successful, we think that other publishers will follow suit," Pachter said. "With the early June launch of the second Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map pack, we think that online game play will continue to be a drain on gamers time and wallets, and think that sales could again slide into negative territory."
When asked if there was something that he'd like to change immediately, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick mentioned that he would like to have a subscription service for Call of Duty in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. "I would have Call Of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow. When you think about what the audience's interests are and how you could really satisfy bigger audiences with more inspired, creative opportunities, I would love to see us have an online Call Of Duty world. I think our players would just have so much of a more compelling experience.
"I think our audiences are clamouring for it, Kotick added. you look at what they're playing on Xbox Live today, we've had 1.7 billion hours of multiplayer play on Live. I think we could do a lot more to really satisfy the interests of the customers. I think we could create so many things, and make the game even more fun to play. We haven't really had a chance to do that yet."
We don't yet have any hint as to when Activision or other publishers might begin testing their "online monetization" plans or what that exactly will entail. It could be everything from in game ads, to selling special DLC items, to a full on subscription model, or even a variation of EA's Project Ten Dollar. Whatever it may be, news like this is not good for gamer's wallets that are already stretched thin in this economy.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is due this November while the "Resurgence Pack" for Modern Warfare 2 is currently available on the Xbox 360 and due out on July 6 for the PC and PS3.
I will say this. Bobby Kotick is going to kill the game industry. I know of 10 people who would stop purchasing Activision titles if this were to occur. I theory, if they were to give us dedicated servers and make it so that I won't be lag switched the whole time, I would consider it. But that would only happen if it were a reasonable monetary fee, like a dollar a month. Activision won't go with a rate that is that low. Like Matt said, Never buy from a company who cares about their bottom line and not the customers.
I've been thinking about this, It's alot like having Internet explorer charge for all the hours you spend on the internet after you've just bought the latest operating system, it's absurd! Cause the choices I have as a consumer I can choose to play any of the other FPS games on the market and there's plenty of them, COD is not the only shooter in town there definitely shooting themselves in the foot for thinking this is a viable idea. you know something the game is already bought, now let me play the damn thing, the idea of capitalizing on the hours people play on line is ludicrous while showing everyone the depths you will stoop for your bottom line.
I sort of knew this would happen. Activision have been known to buy companies and just milk them dry. Look at Guitar Hero. It started off with 1, 2 and 3 then after that it was 2 3 games per year. Activision are a joke. FPS games are too repetitive to pay monthly fees for. Think about it. All you do is run around, shoot people, change map, rinse and repeat. There is not enough to do in the game to start charging fees. Al least with WOW or even a game like Runescape, they are constantly updated and have enough content to warrant a fee. But with COD, the only time Infinity Ward update is when they want to put in another $15 map pack. They say they want to charge a fee as sales are dropping. Really ? Look at the amount of people it is piing off and it hasn't even been released. I personally know that any of my friends who play it (and there are alot) can not and will not pay for this. I see the death of one of the decent FPS games in the future if this happens.
