PHILADELPHIA -- The third time worked just fine for Colorados four-man rotation experiment. Womens Andrew Luck Jersey . Jeff Francis tossed five solid innings and four relievers combined to shut out Philadelphia the rest of the way Thursday night in the Rockies 4-1 victory over the Phillies. Chris Nelson hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning and Wilin Rosario added a two-run shot in the ninth to help the Rockies snap a four-game losing streak. Josh Roenicke (2-0) pitched 1 1-3 innings in relief of Francis to earn the victory. The Rockies bullpen allowed just two hits. Francis surrendered one run on six hits and was lifted after 76 pitches. The Rockies are now limiting their starters to 75 pitches, something manager Jim Tracy implemented prior to Tuesdays game against Philadelphia when he moved Jeremy Guthrie to the bullpen. Tracy said he didnt consider leaving the effective Francis in the game. "No and the reason why is if were going to find out about this, we have to continue to do it," he said. Said Francis: "Were going to buy into it. It was on my mind but I just tried to throw more strikes." It was the third start of the season for Francis, a former Rockies first-round pick who was re-signed by Colorado on June 9 after being released by Cincinnati. The soft-tossing lefty retired 11 of his final 13 batters he faced after giving up hits to four of the first seven batters. "He was sinking the ball away and threw a lot of changeups and breaking balls and kept us off balance, took the sting out of our bats," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "He was throwing us a lot of slow stuff and we were chasing. He had good command of his fastball." Rafael Betancourt worked the ninth for his 11th save in 14 chances. Marco Scutaro had a pair of hits for the Rockies, who had lost 12 of 13 entering Thursday. Jimmy Rollins hit a leadoff home run for Philadelphia, which was looking for its first three-game sweep of the season. "Fortunately we won the series but this game wouldve been real good for us to win," Manuel said. "But we have to come back out tomorrow with the outlook were going to win tomorrows game and play better." The Phillies were reeling, losing 12 of 15, prior to taking the first two in the series from the Rockies. They didnt do much after Rollins homer. The Rockies went ahead 2-1 in the seventh on Nelsons two-run homer. Tyler Colvin singled with one out and Nelson connected with two outs against Vance Worley (3-4). "It was down, I had him out in front but the ball kept carrying," Worley said. "I was pretty disgusted." It was the fifth homer this month in 45 at-bats for Nelson, who didnt have a homer in April or May over 73 at-bats. "Im just starting to feel good, thats all that is," said Nelson, slowed by a wrist injury this season. Rosario connected with two outs in the ninth off Michael Schwimer. Rosario leads major league rookies with 11 homers. "Rosario had another good game and a big at-bat," Tracy said. "We have a chance to have a special player on our hands." Worley made his fourth start since coming off the disabled list on June 4 with right elbow inflammation. He has pitched well in the four starts, with a 2.25 ERA, but has two losses and a pair of no-decisions. "Its part of the game," Worley said. "I didnt have my best stuff but I had to go out and compete." The right-hander had allowed just three singles through 6 2-3 innings before Nelsons homer. The Phillies squandered a chance to score in the second. John Mayberry Jr. led off with a double and went to third with one out on third baseman Jordan Pachecos throwing error on Worleys grounder. But Francis got Rollins to pop out and Juan Pierre to fly out to end the threat. "The starter tonight, I hope our young guys paid attention," Tracy said of Francis. "Only one bad curveball. He did a terrific job." Pinch hitter Ty Wigginton, who started the Phillies two-out rally in the ninth Wednesday night with a single in a 7-6 win, led off the eighth with a double off the wall in right-centre. But right-hander Matt Belisle struck out Hunter Pence, got Carlos Ruiz to fly out to deep centre and induced an infield popup by Shane Victorino. Not if he has anything to say about it. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback called a report he may seek a trade in the off-season "ridiculous." reported early Sunday the Steelers expected Roethlisberger to ask the team to explore trade options in the off-season. Roethlisbergers agent, Ryan Tollner, called the speculation "completely wrong" and added the 31-year-old quarterback is "100 per cent committed to winning a championship with the Steelers." Roethlisberger went even further after passing for 204 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a 23-10 win over Buffalo on Sunday. "I dont know where that came from," he said. "It is one of the most (untrue) stories that Ive ever heard of. Ive always said that I want to be a Steeler for life. I love it here. Im happy here." The report called Roethlisberger "very frustrated" by his teams ugly start. The Steelers improved to 3-6 after drumming the Bills, but still remain well out of the mix in the AFC North. Roethlisberger, who has won two Super Bowls in 10 seasons, agreed hes "unhappy" when Pittsburgh fails to produce, but welcomed his share of the blame. Ryan Kelly Jersey. Roethlisberger and offensive co-ordinator Todd Haley have struggled to communicate at times since Haley was hired nearly two years ago. The quarterback and the coach have spent much of the season trying to find common ground. Steelers president Art Rooney II added "the Pittsburgh Steelers have not explored trading quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and have no plans to do so." Roethlisbergers current contract will expire at the end of the 2015 season. He is due a base salary of $12.1 million next season, with a salary cap number of nearly $19 million. That alone would could make it difficult for the Steelers to move Roethlisberger even if there was interest. Apparently, theres not. Tollner said Roethlisbergers roots are "firmly" planted in western Pennsylvania. Roethlisberger and his wife are expecting their second child next spring. "Im a Pittsburgher," Roethlisberger said. "Ive told people that. Im so proud to raise my kids here. I want to finish my career here, however long that is. I dont want to play for anybody else. Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork. Salvador Perez Authentic Jersey .com) - Mike Anderson and Robert Upshaw scored 11 points apiece, helping No. 16 Washington beat 15th-ranked Oklahoma 69-67 Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The Huskies (10-0) built a 20-point lead in the first half, but had to hold on down the stretch to continue the programs best start since going 11-0 to begin 2005-06. Jernard Jarreau paced Washington with 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Isaiah Cousins and Buddy Hield both scored 17 points for Oklahoma (7-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Ryan Spangler posted a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds in defeat. Nigel Williams-Goss hit a floater in the lane to put Washington up 68-64 with 2:01 remaining. The bucket followed four consecutive missed shots by the Sooners. After Oklahoma closed within 68-67, Andrew Andrews couldnt get a tough inside shot to fall for Washington. Jordan Woodard then missed a jumper from the left elbow. Andrews was fouled on the rebound and made the first free throw attempt with 0.6 seconds left before intentionally missing the second. Oklahoma grabbed the rebound, but wasnt able to get a shot off following a timeout. The teams went back-and-forth to begin the game, but Washington created separation with a 15-0 run over a three-minute stretch. Shawn Kemp Jr. capped the burst with a layup for a 26-10 Huskies lead. Washington went up 37-17 on a Jarreau layup with 5:09 remaining in the first half. The Sooners ended the frame on a 10-3 run and continued to chip away following the break. Game Notes Williams-Goss finished with eight points, eight rebounds and six assists ... Washington and Oklahoma have split four all-time meetings ... MONACO, Monaco - With the IOCs new bidding process now in place, the race for the 2024 Olympics is primed to take off. Cheap Nike Air Max 2016 .The U.S. Olympic Committee will make a decision next week on whether to bid and may even select a city to put forward, making a choice among Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington. Were not in it to come in fourth, third or second, USOC chairman Larry Probst said Tuesday, setting the stage for a contest that could also include Paris, Rome, Berlin or Hamburg and other cities. The 2024 campaign is ready to move forward after the International Olympic Committee approved a raft of changes Monday that include a revised process designed to make bidding less expensive and more attractive to potential candidates. The new system includes an invitation phase where interested countries and cities discuss their plans with the IOC in advance of bidding to tailor the project to their own needs and conditions.I dont think it has much of an impact on our process, Probst said. I dont think any of these reforms have a significant impact on bidding or not bidding.IOC President Thomas Bach said Tuesday the invitation phase will begin on Jan. 15, eight months before the Sept. 15 deadline for declaration of bids.Bach said the IOC will contact all national Olympic committees interested in bidding. Meetings will be arranged in Lausanne, Switzerland, or in the potential bid cities. Its not an evaluation, Bach said. It will be up to these potential candidate cities to raise the topics they think are worthwhile. Our delegation will listen and give them any advice.Bach again ruled out reopening the bidding for the 2002 Winter Games. Scared off by high costs and other factors, several cities pulled out, leaving only Beijing and Almaty, Kazakhstan, in the running.Canadian member Dick Pound said the former candidates should be given the chance to rejoin the race under the new bidding rules. But Bach said it would be unfair to the two remaining contenders. Its like a 10,000-meter race, Bach said. If you pull out after five laps, you cant expect that the race will be started again. One thing is already certain for 2024: The Peruvian capital of Lima beat out Helsinki on Tuesday for the right to host the IOC session in 2017 where the vote will be held.Germany has already announced it will be bidding, with a choice between Berlin and Hamburg to be made in March. Italy is expected to announce a Rome bid on Monday. France is likely to approve a Paris bid next month.Other potential contenders include Doha, Qatar; Istanbul, Turkey; Baku, Azerbaijan; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Budapest, Hungary; and a city or region in South Africa. The United States hasnt hosted the Summer Games since 1996 in Atlanta. New York made a failed bid for the 2012 Olympics, and Chicago missed out for 2016.Thats 28 years, Probst said. Thats more than a generation. Thats a long time to not have the games in the United States.Probst said he spoke with Bach and other IOC members in Monaco who encouraged the U.S. to submit a 2024 bid.Its more along the lines of its time for the U.S. to bid and if you have a strong bid with a high-quality leadership team, good venue plan and all the other elements that are important to the membership, you have an opportunity to compete and hopefully compete successfully, he said. The USOC board will meet in California on Dec. 16 to decide whether to bid after listening to presentations from all four cities. The board could decide to choose a candidate city right away or wait a month or two.If we decide to move forward with a bid next week, I would say within 30-60 days we would probably select a city, but we could get to that next week as well, Probst said. The new IOC rules allow for events to be held outside host cities and countries in exceptional cases.I dont think the notion that you could have venues in two different cities is really applicable to a U.S. bid, so I dont think it advantages us or disadvantages us, Probst said.Los Angeles is seeking to host the Olympics for a third time after staging the games in 1932 and 1984.I think some people think its a pro, some people feel its a con, Probst said. Theyve got facilities in place, theyve done it before, but you hear some members say been there, done that, so thats one of the things we have to consider.___Follow Stephen Wilson on Twitter: Nike Roshe Run Floral Print For Sale . Then he cooled off by sticking the right ankle that had been bothering him in a bucket of ice. The Charlotte Bobcats are picking things up quickly with Jefferson in the middle again after the injury that had forced him out of the lineup. Jefferson scored 19 points, Gerald Henderson added 17 and the Bobcats handed the Milwaukee Bucks their eighth straight loss in a 96-72 win Saturday night. Jefferson, in his second game back from an ankle injury, added seven rebounds for Charlotte, which has won two of three to pull back to .500 (7-7). "My first game back, I was a little rusty," Jefferson said while icing down the ankle. The Bobcats lost to Phoenix 98-91 on Friday night, when Jefferson finished with nine points in his first action after missing four games. "But it never fails the second game. It like clicked," Jefferson said while snapping his fingers. "And thats what we did better than last night." Reserve Khris Middleton (20 points) led the Bucks, who shot just 35 per cent. Milwaukees losing streak is its longest since closing out the 2007-8 season with eight consecutive losses. Coach Larry Drew was optimistic before the game that his team would bounce back from a 115-107 loss in overtime to Philadelphia on Friday night. Instead, the Bucks struggled again. At 2-10, theyre the worst team in the Eastern Conference. "I owe the fans a big, big apology for the performance of this team tonight. Very, very disappointed," Drew said. "A team that I really thought after last nights loss would come out and play with some energy, with some passion and they did not do that." Middleton outscored the Bucks starting five of Caron Butler, Ersan Ilyasova, Zaza Pachulia, O.J. Mayo and Luke Ridnour, who combined for 16 points on 8-of-28 shooting. Charlotte led the entire way, building on a 46-39 halftime lead. A smattering of boos came down for the Bucks with Charlotte up 23 after three quarters. "I told the guys after the game that there will be changes in our starting lineup," Drew said. "If theyre not on the same page with it, so be it, but there will be changes." The Bobcats outmuscleed the Bucks to pull away. Release Date Of Nike Air Max 2016. Jeff Adrien added 10 rebounds off the bench for Charlotte, which had decisive edges on the boards (52-36) and points in the paint (48-2. Charlotte was briefly threatened in the second quarter, when the Bucks narrowed an early 12-point edge to 36-35. But Milwaukee had a 2-of-18 shooting stretch from late in the second quarter to late in the third. "The biggest thing was energy," Henderson said about the defensive effort. "Were coming off a tough loss at home. Then you come off a back-to-back. Milwaukee. Its cold. Youve just got to come with energy on the road." The Bucks, struggling with injuries, are slowly getting healthy. An injury list that once numbered about a half-dozen players was down to just two on Saturday night in Larry Sanders (thumb) and Carlos Delfino (foot). Point guard Brandon Knight returned to the floor after missing time with a hamstring injury. It still wasnt enough for the Bucks, who looked disjointed on the offensive end. Charlotte capitalized coming out of the half. Josh McRoberts (12 points, nine rebounds) hit a 3 from the wing with the shot clock winding down, leaving Ilyasova to hang his head in frustration as he jogged back up the floor. Mayo missed a quick jumper and the Bobcats came racing down in transition after a rebound by McRoberts. Jefferson drove the lane and got fouled, but missed the second of two foul shots. Then the 6-foot-10, 289-pound Jefferson showed exactly why Charlotte signed him to a three-year, $41 million contract in the off-season, grabbing the offensive board and getting fouled again. This time, Jefferson made both foul shots for an 11-point lead with 11:12 left in the third quarter. "Theres not many guys that can play him effectively," coach Steve Clifford said. "Hes an elite low-post scorer down there." John Henson had 10 points and nine boards for Milwaukee. SAN ANTONIO -- Tony Parker had 18 points to lead six players in double figures and the San Antonio Spurs rolled past the listless Brooklyn Nets 113-92 on Tuesday night. Carlton Fisk Jersey . Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan had 15 points each and Tiago Splitter and Patty Mills each had 12. Miles Plumlee and Shaun Livingston had 15 points each to lead Brooklyn. Kevin Garnet was held to two points, failing to make a field for only the second time in his 19-year career and the first time since 1996. The Nets (10-30) began the season with the same hope as a New Years Eve celebration after a blockbuster trade brought former NBA champions Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to the team. That promise ended quickly and the lacklustre loss to the Spurs was a microcosm of their season so far. It got so bad for the Nets they couldnt even end the game. Brooklyn was forced to call a timeout with 0.2 seconds left after a long delay because they only had four players who hadnt retreated to the locker room -- thinking the game had ended. Several Nets had not fully retreated, but resumed after initially stopping when the officials ruled the game was not over. With first-year coach Jason Kidd and his staff standing around puzzled, Andrei Kirilenko slowly walked back to the court and was subbed in to complete the game with an inbounds pass. While San Antonio walked off the court collectively high-fiving and in good spirits, Brooklyn walked in separate packs, with the five players who were on the court appearing tired as they trudged to the locker room slowly. Kirilenko was playing his first game after missing the last 25 with back spasms. He had four points. The Nets fared better offensively in the second half, but their defence was just as lacklustre. The Spurs set a season high for points in the third quarter in a 39-32 period. San Antonio went 4 for 4 on 3-pointers in the third quarter, steadily increasing its lead to 65-38 on Marco Belinellis with 9:22 remaining and to 98-62 on Patty Mills in the final seconds. Gregg Popovich emptied his bench for the fourth quarter, sitting Duncan, Parker, Ginobili for the entire period. The loudest ovation in the fourth quarter came when former Spurs centre David Robinson was shown on the giant television screens at midcourt. NOTES: Jason Terry was shocked by the hostile reception he received upon entering the game early in the first quarter. As the booing grew louder and louder, Terry turned to the crowd, smiled, raised his arms, shrugged and asked "what." Terry has spent the past two seasons in the Eastern Conference with the Boston Celtics and Nets, but Spurs fans obviously have not forgotten his testy battles with the Spurs during his days with the Dallas Mavericks. . Popovich was upset with Ginobili for failing to pass the ball on a 2-on-1 break against Mirza Teletovic to close the first quarter. Ginobili missed a contested layup, with the buzzer sounding as the ball bounced away. Popovich immediately stormed the court and began berating Ginobili, who gestured he thought he had a scoop layup. Popovich followed Ginobili to the bench, but was held back by Duncan momentarily. Popovich eventually worked his way around Duncan and yelled at Ginobili on the bench between quarters. Duncan, who wasnt in the lineup at the time, consoled a visibly upset Ginobili prior to the start of the second quarter. Rick Porcello Jersey . Cory Schneider will get the call for New Jersey tonight after Martin Brodeur yielded three goals on 17 shots in Mondays setback. Schneider has never faced the Canadiens. Montreal won its second game in a row in Mondays close decision against New Jersey. Alex Galchenyuk scored the game-winner for the Habs when he gave the hosts a 3-2 edge with 10:26 left in the third period. After being benched for the third period for an undisciplined penalty in Saturdays victory over Toronto, Galchenyuk earned a bit of redemption with his game-winner on Monday. Alexei Emelin missed the net on a shot from the middle, but Galchenyuk was there to steer the puck into the net on a broken play to give the Canadiens the lead for good. "I wasnt feeling low on Saturday, it happens, its part of the game. I put it behind me. I was definitely excited about this game. I wanted to play good annd was happy with that goal," said Galchenyuk. Brock Holt Jersey. Bourque tallied a goal and an assist in the win, while David Desharnais contributed two helpers. Max Pacioretty provided the other goal for Montreal and Carey Price turned aside 27-of-29 shots to record the victory. Price was particularly sharp in the opening period, when he held the Devils to just one goal on 11 shots. "We werent ready to play in the first period. It could have been 4-0 for the Devils, but Carey kept us in the game. We owe it to our goalies to step up when they bail us out," said Pacioretty. Price improved his career record against the Devils to 8-9-1 and he expects to get the start again in Wednesdays finale. He has a solid 2.39 goals against average and .916 save percentage in 18 career games versus New Jersey. Steve Bernier and Michael Ryder lit the lamp on Monday for New Jersey, which had a two-game winning streak snapped in the opener of this two-game series. "We played well at the start. We missed a couple of open-netters. Their defensemen made a couple of good plays and at the end that is what made the difference," said Brodeur after Mondays loss. Devils forward Adam Henrique left the opener of the home-and-home set with a lower-body injury and is questionable for Wednesdays clash. Henrique is tied for second on New Jersey with six goals this season. The Canadiens have won three of the past four meetings against New Jersey overall, but the Devils have claimed two of the past three encounters in Newark. Montreal has a 7-4-1 road record this season, while the Devils are 5-4-2 as the host. Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens are still adjusting to NHL play after a nearly three-week Olympic layoff. Wholesale Jerseys 2016 . And it showed Thursday night. The Canadiens, playing in their second game in as many days, however, got a good performance in the end from their backup goaltender as he filled in for an injured Olympic gold medallist . Peter Budaj stopped all three shooters in the shootout and David Desharnais scored the only goal, leading the Canadiens to a wild 6-5 victory. "He battled back in the second and third and in the shootout he was outstanding," Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said of Budaj. Budaj, in his second straight start for injured starter Carey Price, stopped Penguins shooters James Neal and Sidney Crosby before denying Evgeni Malkins slap shot for the win. Desharnais, the third shooter for Montreal, slammed on the brakes at the top of the crease before sliding the puck by Marc-Andre Fleury. "I would like to have some goals back, but we scored five goals against Pittsburgh," Budaj said. "We have to learn from the mistakes we made. We have to keep going and getting better." Daniel Briere scored twice, once on the power play, and Max Pacioretty also scored with the man advantage, his 27th of the year. Brendan Gallagher netted his 15th for the Canadiens and Alexei Emelin also scored his second of the season. Budaj, who stopped 27 shots, made his second straight start after turning aside 28 shots during an overtime loss one day earlier against Detroit. "You can tell the bench guys wanted to battle back for him because he certainly worked hard," Therrien said. He filled in for Price, who was named the top goaltender at the Olympic games after going 5-0 with a 0.59 goals-against average and two shutouts, leading Team Canada to a gold medal. Price, who aggravated a lower-body injury sustained in Sochi, will be re-evaluated Friday. "Credit to the team because they stuck with it, they battled for me and we got the two points," Budaj said. Crosby, who leads the NHL with 80 points, scored his 29th and added an assist. Neal scored his 21st for his 300th career point and also had an assist, while Malkin provided two assists, both extending six-game point streaks. Olli Maatta scored his seventh of the season on the power play and had an assist, while Brandon Sutter had a short-handed goal, his 10th of the year. Deryk Engelland also scored his career-high fifth goal. "We worked hard," Crosby said. "It was a little sloppy, and a lot of special teams. ... Probably a tough first one for everybody to get into." The teams were tied at 3 after two periods and both scored twice in the third, sending the game to overtime. Three of the four third-period goals were scored by special teams units, Sutter giving the Penguins a 4-3 lead with a short-handed breakaway goal and Crosby later putting Pittsburgh ahead 5-4 on the power play. Emelin tied it 24 seconds after Sutter gave the Penguins the initial lead and Briere sent the game to overtime with his second goal of the game. With the Canadiens trailing, the Penguins Tanner Glass was issued a five-minute major for a hit on Emelin. The call was elbowing, but video replays showed Emelins stick came up and hit him in the head. "Thats why I kind of followed through the way I did, to get his stick away from my face," Glass said. "Its a hockey play, it happens. I can understand why he made the call." The Canadiens cashed in anyway, Briere tying it with his second of the game when he feathered a back-door rebound behind Fleury, who made 24 saves. NOTES: Penguins D Kris Letang spoke with reporters Thursday morning, the first time since suffering a stroke and said he will likely play hockey again, but its unclear if he will return this season. ... Paul Martin, out 4-to-6 weeks after breaking his hand in the Olympics, was scratched along with recently recalled D Simon Despres. ... HAYWARD, Calif. Martin Prado Authentic Jersey . -- Tony Finau won the Stonebrae Classic on Sunday for his first Tour title, closing with a 4-under 66 for a three-stroke victory. Finau, the 24-year-old Salt Lake City player who turned pro at 17, had a tournament-record 22-under 258 total at TPC Stonebrae and earned $108,000 to jump from 24th to eighth on the money list with $238,125. It definitely wasnt easy coming down the stretch but I had a lot of fun. I was proud of how I stayed in the moment. Gomez, from Argentina, finished with a 68. He had a 60 in the second round. Berger also closed with a 68. TORONTO - Winning the game was not important, Dwane Casey repeated leading up to his teams sixth exhibition game Monday. San Francisco Giants Jersey . Apparently nobody told the young group of reserves that shared the floor as the Raptors heroics forced two overtime periods before clinching the victory in a game that exceeded three hours in duration. For Casey this game, like the five that proceeded it, was all about finding cohesion amongst his second unit, determining the right combinations as he works to trim down his rotation and seeing what he has in the young players who will make up the end of his bench. On Monday all of that meant playing to win. With 11 seconds remaining, down two coming out of a timeout, Casey considered going for the win; an all or nothing three-point attempt that may have appeased the working media, many of whom grew restless as the rare preseason thriller crawled along. Instead, Landry Fields inbounded to Tyler Hansbrough on the elbow, who faked the pass back to Fields and blew by an unsuspecting Metta World Peace for the two-handed slam to tie the game. "I owed it to the players," Casey said of his decision to force overtime. "Weve got to try to execute down the stretch. It crossed my mind [to go for the three] but it wasnt the right thing to do." "It was good for us to learn," he explained following Torontos 123-120 win over the Knicks. "I know its excruciating for [the media] to have to stay up late and miss [their] deadlines but its good for [the players]." No starter played in the fourth quarter or in either of the extra periods as Casey continued to experiment with his reserves, many of whom have failed to stand out over the first six games. Hansbrough and Terrence Ross, who both figure to be mainstays off the bench this season, came through down the stretch while Quincy Acy, Dwight Buycks and Julyan Stone - who still hasnt made the team but is a safe bet to snag the final roster spot - played like they have something to prove. "The guys fought, scraped [and] got their way back into the game," Casey said. "Its a great experience for those young kids to be able to play in those situations because in the regular season most likely, unless something catastrophic happens, theyre not going to be in the game." "It prepares you for future games," said Ross, who scored a game-high 27 points including a buzzer beating three-pointer that forced double overtime. "If you ever get in that situation you know what to do and what not to do." "You really just get comfortable in that situation," he continued, "because the first time you go out there its always kind of nerve-racking no matter how many times you go over it in practice so just getting that live experience helps." Raining Ross Triples With 4.1 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, Julyan Stone found Ross - the inbounder - coming off a screen. The sophomore rose up, faded away and drilled the game-tying triple at the buzzer. By that point Ross was on fire. The Raptors guard was just one-for-three, all three-point attempts, through seven minutes in the first three quarters. He finished the game seven-for-15, including six-of-13 from long range, in just over 25 minutes. "My teammates kept passing me the ball," he said, "so I knew if they were passing to me I was going to shoot it. They gave me the confidence to keep shooting so thats what I did." At times Ross has been the most impressive player on the floor during the preseason, scoring most of his points in bunches. Other times, specifically early in games, hes gone relatively unnoticed, something Casey has noticed and is working with him to correct. "It took Terrence a little while to get going," the Raptors coach said of Ross, who should be the second units biggest source of offence if he can become more consistent. "Once he got going he was okay but hes got to do that as soon as he comes in [the game] in that second quarter." Shades of Hakeem Once again in the preseason DeMar DeRozan put on a show in the paint, completely dominating smaller defenders in the post and making it look easy. From his trusted up and under move, to a devastating spin that made rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. look silly, to the fake behind the back pass that fooled former defensive player of the year Tyson Chandler en route to an easy lay in, DeRozan continued to turn heads and earn high praise. "I thought his footwork when they had single coverage [on him] was big-time," Casey said of DeRozans work in the post. "He looked like hed been working with Hakeem [Olajuwon] down there." "Its a footwork thing," said DeRozan, who has been studying film of great post-up guards including Kobe Bryant and Andre Miller. "Understanding how a players going to play me and just using my advantages. I know if I get a player in the air either I get the foul or get the lay-up. I just have different options and Im starting to understand that more." DeRozan had 21 points in just under 30 minutes, shooting 8-for-15 from the field, including his first two treys of the preseason. After going a perfect 5-of-5 in the paint Monday, he is now shooting 19-for-25 (76 per cent) in the restricted area, where he has taken 43 per cent of his field goal attempts during the exhibition season. Chemistry on the Wing The league, or at least the Knicks, have noticed the evolution in DeRozans game as hes beginning to see double teams intended to put pressure on him as a ball handler. "I thought his passes out of the double teams were huge," Casey said. "I think Rudy [Gay] got a three off of one of them. So hes got to punish them with the pass as much as his scoring out of the post." DeRozan improved his ball handling and court vision last season and looks to be taking the next step playing alongside another dangerous offensive weapon in Rudy Gay. Gay finished with 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting, also hitting a couple of three-pointers, in just under 26 minutes. Continued Search for Second-Unit Symmetry Again, the group of Ross, Fields, Hansbrough, D.J. Augustin and Austin Daye struggled to begin the second quarter on Monday. That group, which has given up early leads on a couple occasions this fall, gave up a one-point advantage that the starters had earned coming out of the opening frame and allowed the Knicks to rip off 15-6 run before Casey was forced to call a quick timeout and regroup. "I was disappointed in the approach in the second quarter," he admitted. "When you come in the game theres nobody guaranteed minutes. We cant come in soft. Weve got to get rid of that tag of teams coming in, pushing us under the bucket, grabbing offensive rebounds, taking the ball away from us with us being non-physical and I thought in the second quarter we did that." The Raptors, who finished the game with a 57-52 advantage on the boards, were outrebounded by nine in the first half. Augustin and Daye played just seven minutes and gave way to Buycks, Stone and Acy in the second half. An Uneventful Return for Bargnani Andrea Bargnani made his second preseason return to Toronto in a span of 10 days. The former Raptors forward was booed by the sparse crowd during pre-game introductions but the harsh reception was a bit more subdued than it was during his first game back and tailed off as the night went on. Bargnani scored 13 points, five of them from the free-throw line, on 4-of-12 shooting after starting off 1-of-8. Up Next The Raptors will host Memphis at the Air Canada Centre on Wednesday. Hear it live on TSN 1050 Radio at 7pm et. With just two exhibition games remaining, Casey has indicated he will begin to tighten the rotation and give his starters more playing time, including minutes in the fourth quarter as they prepare for the start of the regular season. Will Clark Authentic Jersey . Were starting to make better plays, were starting to have the puck more. It feels like guys are staying positive, upbeat, that were going to find a way.Varlamov has a lot to do with it.His 54 saves against the Blackhawks were the most for a goaltender in a road shutout. He has 90 saves in the past two games and has been a big reason Colorado is 8-3-2 in its last 13 games.Varly was our best player again. Varly is bringing a lot of confidence to the team, coach Patrick Roy said. Im very happy with him. At the same time, were going to have to play better in front of him.Iginla got the Avalanche on the board first with his 11th goal of the season. He took a pass from Alex Tanguay down low, circled around and beat Craig Anderson with a wrister at 8:20 of the first period. His goal just 23 seconds into the third period made it a 4-1 game. It was Iginlas 572nd career goal and moved him within one of Mike Bossy for 20th on the NHLs career list.It feels good, Iginla said. It always feels good to win and to score. Weve been battling for a while and the last 10-11 games it feels like were starting to build some momentum here and guys are sstarting to feel better. Matt Williams Authentic Jersey. Matt Duchene won a draw in the Ottawa zone and the puck came back to Stuart, whose slap shot went through traffic for his first goal in the last 65 games. Stuart had not scored since Dec. 3, 2013, when he was playing with San Jose. The Senators cut the lead to 2-1 on Mark Stones 10th goal at 3:03 of the second. It was the first goal allowed by Varlamov in 84:04 of playing time.Ottawas celebration was short-lived. Johnson beat Anderson with a shot from the point for his career-best 11th goal of the season.Establishing a new high in goals means a lot to me, especially to do it in Colorado, Johnson said. I havent had double digits since I was in St. Louis.Anderson, who allowed three goals on nine shots, gave way to Robin Lehner, who finished with 10 saves. They made good on the chances they had, Anderson said. The third goals obviously Iginla in front of me but the other ones we had our own guys in front of me who did their fair share of screening. Its frustrating, but at the same time I have to fight through that.Bobby Ryans 12th goal of the season made it 4-2 just 42 seconds after Iginlas second tally, but Briere scored less than two minutes later to restore the three-goal lead.NOTES: Senators D Marc Methot returned to the lineup after missing 13 games with a back injury. PITTSBURGH -- Pinch-runner Josh Harrison stood on second base in the bottom of the eighth inning and pointed to Pittsburgh Pirates third base coach Nick Leyva. Saul Niguez Camiseta Atletico De Madrid . "I told him to get that arm ready, because Im coming," Harrison said. Moments later, Harrison was streaking across home plate to give the Pirates the lead. Minutes after that, the Jolly Roger thats been a fixture on the Pittsburgh skyline all summer climbed up the flagpole again. Harrison scored on Pedro Alvarezs tiebreaking single Sunday, sending the Pirates to a 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals that staked Pittsburgh to a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five NL division series. Russell Martin followed with a sharp RBI single against reliever Kevin Siegrist, who took over after Carlos Martinez (0-1) faltered. The go-ahead single was the latest big hit by Alvarez. He homered in the first two games against St. Louis and is 4 for 10 with four RBIs in the series. Alvarez also kept the Pirates famous flag flying high in October. "Raise the Jolly Roger!" is the rallying cry for this wild-card team, now one victory from its first post-season series win since Willie Stargell, Dave Parker and the "We Are Family" gang won it all in 1979. "Were continuing to surprise a lot of people, I believe. Were continuing to show people that were not done, that were not just happy to be in the post-season," star centre fielder Andrew McCutchen said. "Were fighting to win a World Series." Heady territory for a franchise that had endured a record 20 consecutive years of losing coming into this season. Six months later, the Pirates are on the cusp of knocking out baseball royalty. Mark Melancon (1-0) picked up the win despite allowing Carlos Beltrans tying home run in the top of the eighth. Jason Grilli worked the ninth for a save. Charlie Morton is set to start for Pittsburgh in Game 4 on Monday against rookie Michael Wacha. Beltran finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs. His 16th playoff home run moved him past Babe Ruth for eighth place in post-season history. "Its a must-win tomorrow for us," Beltran said. "Hopefully we can come here tomorrow, take care of business, win and go play the last game at home." Beltrans shot temporarily silenced a rocking crowd at PNC Park. It also set the stage for another dramatic win by the Pirates. McCutchen led off the eighth with his second hit, a double to left. But the NL MVP candidate unwisely tried to advance on Justin Morneaus grounder to shortstop and was an easy out at third. Harrison ran for Morneau and moved up when Marlon Byrd walked. St. Louis manager Mike Matheny turned to a lefty in Siegrist to face the left-handed Alvarez. The Pittsburgh slugger tied for the NL lead with 36 homers during the regular season, but hit just .180 against lefties. "I just knew it was going to be a tough matchup," Alvarez said. "Ive seen him a couple of times before. I havent had much success. Hes a pitcher with good stuff -- great stuff. He threw me a couple of fastballs out over the plate." One too many, as it turned out, and Alvarez singled between first and second. Martin then fouled off a squeeze bunt before lining a hit to left that gave Grilli more than enough cushion. The game was a rare nail-biter between two clubs that spent the summer shadowing each other in the race for the NL Central title. Coming into Sunday, only five of the previous 21 matchups between the two were decided by two runs or less. After blowouts by each club in St. Louis, there wasnt much room to breathe in front of a frenzied, black-clad crowd looking for a repeat of Pittsburghs giddy 6-2 romp over Cincinnati in the wild-card game last Tuesday. Martins sacrifice fly off reliever Seth Maness in the sixth gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead and turned the game over to Pittsburghs "Shark Tank" bullpen, one of the keys to the franchises first winning season and playoff berth in a generation. Tony Watson worked around a one-out single in the seventh before giving way to Melancon. The Cardinals must win two straight to advance to the NL championship series for the third straight year. "Weve been in this situation," Beltran said. "Last year, I think we were in this situation a lot. So I think were fine, man. We want to come here tomorrow, we want to win and hopefully take this series home." Pirates starter Francisco Liriano dominated the Cardinals during the regular season, going 3-0 with an 0.75 ERA in three starts against the NLs highest-scoring team. He was electric against the Reds last Tuesday, shaking off a sinus infection and baffling them with a series of changeups and sliders that ended Cincinnatis season and manager Dusty Bakers tenure. Liriano narrowly escaped damage in the third Sunday when Matt Holliday lined to right with the bases loaded. The left-hander wasnt quite as fortunate in the fifth. Jon Jay led off with a single and Pete Kozma followed with a walk. After pitcher Joe Kelly struck out trying to bunt, a double steal set up Beltrans two-run single. At 2-all, the Cardinals had matched their entire output against Liriano in their previous 28 innings. Liriano was matched nearly pitch for pitch by the unflappable Kelly. The 25-year-old right-hander has been rock-steady all season, even as he moved from middle reliever to starter in July. Kelly welcomed the hostile environment, calling the sea of black-clad fans that awaited him one of the things a kid dreams about. The reality proved a little more unnerving, at least when Byrd hit a two-run single in the first. The well-travelled outfielder -- who played in 1,250 regular-season games before reaching the playoffs for the first time -- has been a welcome jolt both in the lineup and in the clubhouse for the Pirates. "Just having a heck of a time," Byrd said. NOTES: Grilli worked around a leadoff single in the ninth. ... McCutchen is batting .538 (7 for 13) and has an on-base percentage of .684 in the playoffs. His five walks rank first in the league this post-season. ... TORONTO - Star forward Connor McDavids cast is off, he has clearance for non-contact drills and is confident hell be ready to play in the upcoming world junior hockey championship. Randal Grichuk Cardinals Jersey .Now its just a matter of seeing how things go at the Canadian teams pre-tournament camp.McDavid hasnt played in a game since breaking a bone in his right hand on Nov. 12. The Erie Otters forward has been skating regularly but his cast wasnt removed until this week. The junior phenom will be examined by doctors on a regular basis and the team says theyre taking things day by day. But the goal is to get McDavid into at least one exhibition game before the tournament opener on Dec. 26.I can take full slapshots and all that, so the hand feels good, McDavid said Thursday afternoon at a downtown hotel. The wrist is not too stiff at all. So it should be all good.Thirty players have been invited to camp and 22 players will make the final team. The 17-year-old McDavid, who has 51 points in 18 games this season, is an early favourite to be selected first overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. His presence would provide a big boost to a squad that hasnt won gold in five years.McDavid was sporting a yellow no-contact jersey during a 75-minute evening practice at MasterCard Centre. He was flying down the ice during drills but his puck-handling skills were a little rusty.I felt good, obviously a couple hiccups there with the puck, he said. I thought I was shooting it fine and I got better as the practice went on.Head coach Benoit Groulx said it would be nice to get McDavid into an exhibition game, but its most important to have him ready for the tournament. We will follow what the doctor says and how he reacts to shooting the puck and passing the puck, he said. But right now theres no rush. Were happy to have him here and well see how it plays out.McDavid was on last years team that finished fourth in Malmo, Sweden. Canadas first game at this years event will be played at Montreals Bell Centre against Slovakia. We want to be patient with him in order to have him at 100 per cent, Groulx said. We dont want to put Connor McDavid on the ice at 75 per cent. Thats why were patient and were going to have to wait and see how he reacts to practising.Other returning players include Halifax Mooseheads goaltender Zach Fucale, defencemen Chris Bigras of the Owen Sound Attack and Josh Morrissey of the Prince Albert Raiders, and forwards Frederik Gauthier of the Rimouski Oceanic, Nic Petan of the Portland Winterhawks and Sam Reinhart of the Kootenay Ice.There could still be a few late additions to the camp roster. NHL clubs have until the Dec. 19 roster freeze to decide whether they will loan players to the team. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin wont be joining the squad but there is a chance Curtis Lazar of the Ottawa Senators and Bo Horvat of the Vancouver Canucks could still be added. The players will practise again Friday before taking on the CIS Toronto Selects over the weekend. We have a good positive attitude, Fucale said. We had a good first practice. Its starting well. After the first few days in Toronto, the team will head down the highway for next weeks pre-competition camp in St. Catharines, Ont.
